The Polizeibeirat in Hochsauerlandkreis is a committee of the Hochsauerlandkreis council and is the link between the population and the police.
The members of the advisory board usually meet twice a year. The meetings are not open to the public. The Chairman of the Polizeibeirat is Gerhard Hafner. His deputy is Hans Walter Schneider.
The Polizeibeirat has the task of promoting a trusting relationship between the public and the police. It can also bring requests and suggestions from the public to the police. The Polizeibeirat consults with the head of the police authority on police matters that are of importance to the population or the local government. This also includes complaints addressed to the police authority whose significance goes beyond the individual case or whose handling is in the public interest.
The Polizeibeirat must also be consulted prior to the creation of social facilities, the planning of structural facilities for the police, the establishment or dissolution of police inspectorates and police stations and changes to their districts.
